A JOURNEY HOME by Nancy Wickstead Centre Gallery. Nancy Wickstead is a native of Virginia’s Eastern Shore moving to Richmond in the early 70’s to attend school. “Art has always been with me since I was a little girl living on ‘The Shore.’ I’ve searched for many years for a special focus in oil painting while not really finding my exact comfort area until a few years ago. Sort of like Dorothy, all I needed to do was look in my heart and my own backyard.”
Nancy’s panoramic oil paintings depict beach scenes, salt marshes, seaside sunrises and bayside sunsets from the southern tip of the Peninsula to Virginia’s northern beaches of Assateague concentrating on the depiction of light and atmosphere.
