SOULFUL CREATIONS by Terry Lynn Smith
Terry is an international surrealist figurative painter from Richmond, Virginia. Fusing beauty, youth, eccentric hairstyles, and fashion, she captures pure emotion, rendering timeless, soulful portraits. Each unique portrait is full of passion and vibrant colors, creating highly refined, personal stylized works that accent her mastery of technique with meticulous attention to detail and texture. She builds mystery and narrative in her evocative portraits through the expressiveness in their eyes as she captures a reflection of her own imperfections. Her distorted figurative realism evokes mystery and wonder in the viewer.
Terry discovered her distinct style and fondness to paint after her long battle of surgeries followed by several painful illnesses. Expressing her mood and soul on canvas became her passion as she mastered the art of oil painting. Conquering her own disabilities, she shared her triumphant work with the United Kingdom during her exhibition there in 2011. Centre Gallery West.

About the Juror, JOSH GEORGE:
"Josh George (born 1973 Missouri)
A contemporary realist, Josh George paints with oils and acrylics on wood panel and incorporates layers of collage elements to achieve a texture and richness idiosyncratic to his work. His subjects include human figures, cityscapes and scenes of everyday urbanity that capture the nature of life in the American city. George's paintings offer narrative "snap-shots" conveyed with both a sly wit and sensitivity. At once playful and complex, his images are imbued with the grace of the 16th-17th century Italian masters he admires- Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Annibale Carracci. George's glimmering colors, layering of collage materials, and strong painterly effects create works that are both sophisticated and theatrical
Josh George is currently represented by galleries in New York City; Scottsdale, AZ; Aspen, CO; Boston, MA; Kansas City, MO; Richmond, VA; Raleigh, NC; and Milano, Italy.
His artwork has been featured in numerous publications, including Stile Magazine, Step By Step Magazine, and Society of Illustrators, among others. Josh George's work is also part of Warner Music, Nissan, Sheraton Hotels, Hilton Hotels, and Limno Tech corporate art collections.
He has taught for Pratt Institute and for Virginia Commonwealth University's Department of Communication Arts, and has been a guest lecturer for Syracuse University's MFA in Painting Program, The Illustration Academy, and Accademia di'Arte di Brescia in Brescia, Italy".
