POSITIVE EXPOSURE: The Spirit of Difference

by Rick Guidotti from New York and Washington D.C.

Rick Guidotti, a former fashion photographer, founded Positive Exposure in 1997 to challenge the stigma associated with genetic difference. Art Works heard about his work through Sarah Elsea Ph.D. FACMG with the Department of Pediatrics and Human Genetics at VCU. She suggested that the exhibit would not only bring beautiful art to Richmond but provide education of genetics to students with whom she is working. POSITIVE EXPOSURE: The Spirit of Difference is the result. The exhibit celebrates the beauty and richness of human diversity and exquisitely displays the beauty endowed to individuals with genetic differences. See www.positiveexposure.org for information on this amazing organization.

Sixteen months later nine paintings document that conversation, people and place.
